The annual cycle of ceremonies culminates in the Kanname-sai, the most important ceremony in Ise Jingu. It consists of three parts. At first, nocturnal offerings of sacred food are presented in the Yukino-omike ceremony. Then, the Imperial envoy presents sacred offerings of silk and other materials in the Hoheisai ceremony. Finally, ceremonial court music and dance are dedicated to the kami in the Yojoden at night after the Hoheisai ceremony. |
